Welcome to Lore Link! First of all, thank you for being willing to take part in our Early Access program. All of us involved in this project appreciate your time to help us make this tool truly what it needs to be.
So, what exactly is Lore Link?
Lore Link is a digital tool for tabletop roleplaying games. While existing modern tools have improved some aspects of playing tabletop roleplaying games in the digital age, making games faster, wider reaching, or just simpler, one area has been overlooked: running the game. Most gamemasters (GMs) have all of their world building stored across many different mediums, from websites for rules, to spreadsheets for player loot, or even to stacks of notecards just to keep NPCs straight. What tools do exist for GMs tend to be either overly complicated for rapid use, too simple to be used effectively, or not designed to meet basic accessibility requirements.
Lore Link aims to fill that gap, and create an accessible tool that will help all GMs to organize their notes in one easy-to-use place, allowing them to focus on creating an amazing experience for their players instead of shuffling through their notes. We would also like for Lore Link to work well for players of games beyond the “big two”, providing a much-needed tool for indie RPGs.
Currently Lore Link is in Early Access. That means that not all features that will be included in the final release are available now. The main point of this Early Access period is making sure that we can capture all the information a GM would want to have available to them. Once we’re sure we’ve captured the necessary information, we can then go about crafting live dashboards that make information available to users and GMs during an actual session.
As Early Access participants, your feedback is the most valuable thing you can provide for us. This period, as was stated before, is mainly to test our data collection abilities for campaigns. We want to make sure that we can adequately capture all of the data that you would like to have available to you when it comes to sitting down and running a game for your players.
As such we would look for you to build at least 2 different campaigns. They can be active long term campaigns you are already running, a campaign you are planning on running in the future, ideas you’ve had for a homebrew campaign, or even a pre-generated campaign that exists out there.
Finally, after creating a game we would like for you to use Lore Link to plan an actual game session. However, given the current circumstances we are living under combined with difficulties of trying to get a game group to actually meet in a normal year, we understand that you might not be able to have the session during the short time period. That’s fine, as at this time we are more interested in the organizing of data and planning for a session then the actual session itself.
We want to make sure that we can capture your thoughts and feelings throughout your time with the product. There are two main ways that we can capture your feedback. First is at anytime you are in the product and either something breaks or you have a thought you want to record, there’s an option on the upper right hand corner of the screen called “Provide Feedback” seen here:
The other method of providing feedback to us, will be through one or more feedback surveys we will send to you later. Please, be honest and open with us about what you dislike, what doesn’t work, what you feel is missing, what you feel works, and what you’ve enjoyed. It’s only through this feedback that this product will truly be able to take shape! Again, thank you for your time!
