In March of 2026, the Indie Creator Series had a different type of stream. We welcomed Dan Walter of Tiny Ghost Chef Games to talk about their game, Storybake. The stream’s host? Martine Dowden, Lore Link’s designer and baker. “A game about sugar, butter, flour, and friendship, all wrapped up in a tasty little package,” Storybake was right up her alley.
The stream was a great conversation between the two, touching on both the game and actual baking, which both had an extensive history in. One of my favorite ideas behind Storybake was “What if Baba Yaga was a bakery?” combined with the wibbly-wobbly, bakey-wakey idea that the bakery is like the TARDIS, bringing you where you’re needed, not necessarily where you want to go.
The stream was a fantastic hour of watching two gamers who bake talking about games, game design, and baked goods. The team would like to thank Dan once more for spending time with Martine.
