The title section of the rulebook for Paragons: The Roleplaying Game

Happy Monday, readers! Today, we’re taking the Wayback Machine to the end of January 2026, when Mark was able to talk with Joshua Simons about his superhero game, Paragons.

Paragons: The Roleplaying Game is a superhero game where you play as new, up-and-coming heroes, called Paragons. Your goal is to make a name for yourself and your team. The game is intended to be easy to play, using a d6 dice pool system that’s easy to understand. The game is inspired by many of the animated hero shows out there, like Teen Titans and My Hero Academia.

Over the course of the stream, they didn’t just talk about Paragons, but they also talked about Joshua’s take on game design. Looking back, I liked his thoughts on player safety, and how to make a superhero world where everything doesn’t feel unbalanced. After the stream, Mark

posted on Bluesky, “I always enjoy a good superhero game, especially one that is flexible enough to let GMs tell the story they want to tell with their players. Josh has done an excellent job in creating a superhero game that provides GMs with an assortment of tools to do just that. I can’t wait for the Starter Set!”

We strongly recommend you check out the video, either on this post or over on our YouTube channel. We’d especially like to thank Joshua Simons of Broken Door Entertainment for taking the time to talk with us about game design and Paragons. You can find Broken Door on Bluesky, and you can visit their website to check out the game, along with everything else Broken Door has to offer.
