At the end of August last year, the team had the opportunity to gain the high ground by checking out Full Send with the game’s creator, Laurie O’Connel.
Full Send is a role-playing game that uses cards to . Meant for three to five players, you play a professional climber. Your goal is to work together to climb the world’s most dangerous mountains. The card aspect is tarot-powered, where Minor Arcana represents you - your skills, your equipment, your luck - and Major Arcana represents that which you are trying to conquer - the mountain.
During the stream, Mark, Twenty, and Lady S were all able to play a one-shot with Laurie. He ran them through a quick mountain, and the team had good things to say about it. Twenty “…had such a great time! The mechanics of the game are easy to understand and it allows for a LOT of room for players to roleplay and build a really interesting dynamic for their character and with the other characters.” Lady S, who also reads tarot, agreed with Twenty. “I had a great time both as a TTRPGer and a tarot reader! The mechanics were easy to understand and I appreciate how even though we only played a small part of an adventure, we still got to build our characters on the fly and already build some dynamics between them.” Mark said he’d definitely be backing the Kickstarter, saying, “(Laurie) has done an excellent job in capturing both the life-or-death challenge and the cooperative-competitive nature of reaching the summit of a mountain.”
When I reached out to Laurie to see if he had anything to add after the stream, he sent this reply. “I would say the team was amazingly comfortable and helpful and everything was greatly professional. Within the time we had we were really able to show off the game despite technical issues with the card deck. I do wish we’d had time to do downtime, which is a really fun freeplay element! And the character development is very fun because it’s modular but I suppose people will just have to play the game to experience it.” He closed his response with, “Working with you guys was a highlight of a very stressful campaign which was launched only a few weeks after I had had a major surgery so thanks so much.” Laurie, the pleasure was ours. I know many on the team did back the Kickstarter, and are looking forward to playing the game with our friends.
If Full Send sounds like your cup of tea, please head over to the game’s page on itch.io. You can find Laurie’s other games on itch.io as well! You can follow him on Bluesky to see what’s next, and of course you can find the video either on YouTube or attached to this post. We would like to thank Laurie once again for joining us on our stream, and letting us know what he thought of the experience! We appreciate you!
